Loïc Phil

Loïc Phil turned to filmmaking very early on and made it his profession. After graduating from Sciences Po Toulouse in 2015, he found in documentary a junction point between his passion for the image, the direction, and his frank interest for social sciences. Between the sociological approach of participant observation and documentary work, there is only one step. After several short photographic films on hitchhiking, in Iran and Latin America, he decided to turn definitively to the documentary. In 2019, he directed the short documentary Djao on the traumas related to migration, awarded in several selections - including La Rochelle. In 2020, he is interested in the journey of the dancer Miel, founder of Electro dance, to make an intimate portrait in music. He devotes the time he has left to music. First the piano, then computer-assisted composition. He released his first album Anki & Aïda in 2016 under the pseudonym Ilhoë, accompanied by an author and an illustrator; then Fruits for Tomorrow in 2019 on the Bellring label. These two sensibilities are combined in his films, where an important part is given to the rhythm and the search for the right balance between sound and image.
